Every time I look at them, I marvel at who these beautiful creatures are. They come from me, they came off me, they are a bit of me—my children. One afternoon I caught the image of a grown up young person, peering myopically at his phone, fully engrossed. The blue on him, the stillness and the speed, the light and the shade, his uncut, messy hair and him on the outside, but so much inside the device he was holding, gripping, with both hands—and at once I wanted to capture this in my head and on paper.
